Rendezvous with the Moon

I unwrap my body from my lover's arms
Slip out of the covers and into my slippers
And follow my heartbeat to these other charms
For a rendezvous with the moon, for a rendezvous with
the moon
Oh the moon has quite the
following
With the tides, and the wolves, and the wide awake
dreamers
The wild, wild hearts that ache for levity
For a rendezvous with the moon, for a rendezvous with
the moon
The moon is full, then new
It was always the fool who knew
The end is the beginning is the end is the beginning
is the end
The moon retires behind the
horizon
And tired and renewed I return to my sleeping
But there always will be time before time for rising
For a rendezvous with the moon, for a rendezvous with
the moon
Oh the moon has quite the
following
With the tides, and the wolves, and the wide awake
dreamers
The wild, wild hearts that ache for levity
For a rendezvous with the moon, for a rendezvous with
the moon
For a rendezvous with the moon

Laugh with the Universe
© Copyright 1998 Verlene Schermer/BMI

There is more Horatio
don't tell me that you've never heard those voices
beckon you
You shake your head, call it sleep deprivation, and
you don't want to listen
Cause it can be weird, and it can be strange
but it can be cool, and it can be fun when it happens
to you
And you can laugh with the
universe - synchronicity
Laugh with the universe - the audacity
Laugh with the universe - that it could happen to you
Cause it could happen to you.
There is more Horatio
don't rule out the possibility that this was meant to
be
You shrug your shoulder, call it coincidental, and you
think no more about it
Cause it can be weird, and it can be strange
but it can be cool, and it can be fun when it happens
to you
And you can laugh with the
universe - synchronicity
Laugh with the universe - the audacity
Laugh with the universe - that it could happen to you
Cause it could happen...
And when you recognize the
voice you hear inside
And you find yourself dancing to the rhythm of your
life
And you can laugh with the
universe - synchronicity
Laugh with the universe - the audacity
Laugh with the universe - that it could happen to you
Cause it could...
There is more Horatio
more than in your wildest dreams that keep on coming
true
You blink your eyes, pinch your skin once or twice,
& you wonder if you're crazy
Cause it can be weird, and it can be strange
but it can be cool, and it can be fun when it happens
to you
And you can laugh with the
universe - synchronicity
Laugh with the universe - the audacity
Laugh with the universe - that it could happen to you
Cause it could happen to you, it could happen, it
could...

The River
© Copyright 1998 Verlene Schermer/BMI
All Rights Reserved
The river is calling and
I'll follow today
I don't know where it will lead but I know I need to
go there
I don't know when I'll be home but I'll surely find my
way
And I'll follow the river today
I feel the whispering of the
wind, the kiss of water on my skin
I feel the sunlight on my eyes, I've just begun to
realize
When I hear it I'll be going, let my spirit keep on
growing
And I won't fear it no more
The river is calling and I'll
follow today
I don't know where it will lead but I know I need to
go there
I don't know when I'll be home but I'll surely find my
way
And I'll follow the river today
It's just the gypsy in me
waking up to the wanderlust
It's just the winter in me melting into spring
It's just the gypsy in me and I need to move on
Flow with the river to see where it will bring me
The river is calling and I'll
follow today
I don't know where it will lead but I know I need to
go there
I don't know when I'll be home but I'll surely find my
way
And I'll follow the river today

Fertile Inner World
© Copyright 1998 Verlene

How does it happen, how do
changes come?
Do they whip around the corner, do they dawdle some?
Do they enter through the senses to affect your DNA?
Or are they hidden all along the way?
In the grey matter where ideas
flirt and dance together
And regenerate and replenish that fertile inner world
In the grey matter where ideas flirt and dance
together
And regenerate and replenish that fertile inner world
How does it happen, how do
children grow?
In a world so full of wonder, yet so much they know
How do big imaginations fit into such tiny frames?
Or are we larger inside our brains?
In the grey matter where ideas
flirt and dance together
And regenerate and replenish that fertile inner world
In the grey matter where ideas flirt and dance
together
And regenerate and replenish that fertile inner world
We've got such big brains, so
much capacity
Big brains, the die is cast, you see
Big brains, it's revolutionary
Big brains, it's evolutionary
The final frontier, lies within the fertile inner
world
In the grey matter where ideas
flirt and dance together
And regenerate and replenish that fertile inner world
In the grey matter where ideas flirt and dance
together
And regenerate and replenish that fertile inner world

Maple Leaf
© Copyright 1998 Verlene

The maple leaf turned ripely
autumn-toned
And fell uncertainly toward the ground
But then was rescued by a whirling wind
And carried to a brisk, impatient stream
And set so lovingly and
lightly down
It did not sink, but floated swiftly on
And on past apple orchards, meadow lands
And rocky crags. The river over ran
The cliff's tall edge and with
it fell the brown
Half-moistened maple leaf. "How far I've come!"
The leaf exclaimed, "and yet how far from home
With no way ever to return again!"
And with the water falling all
around,
It plunged into the pool's dark depths. And then,
It floated to the surface where the sun
Beat down its warmth to push the process on.
The blackened maple leaf could
not have known
That it would finally come to winter-in
Among the mildew in the stagnant pond.
But this was not the lengthy journey's end:
The decomposing leaf would now return
Its elements into the pool,
the ground
And then into the air where they might find
Their way back to the tree in early spring
To feed her for the new growth on her limbs.
And as her
spring-and-summer-worth of green
Begins to turn to gold when autumn comes,
She'll willingly release what she has grown
Because the cycle must continue on.

Potential
© Copyright 1998 Verlene
Schermer/BMI

Why do I sit here adding
warmth to my sofa
Investing so much of myself in something so
unappreciative
Why do I sit here making plans for more loafin'
When I got such good intentions and so much to give
I oughta sell all I got and
buy a ticket to Peru
I oughta sit there and watch the greenery grow
And get my two pennies worth of MC squared
Don't you know, don't you know, I got
All kind-a potential, but I'm kinetically impaired
Why do I wonder that I lack
emotion
I'm watching the world spin around me like I'm not
really here
Why do I wonder how to start some motion
When I just need a little shove to get my life in gear
I oughta sell all I got and
buy a ticket to Peru
I oughta sit there and watch the greenery grow
And get my two pennies worth of MC squared
Don't you know, don't you know, I got
All kind-a potential, but I'm kinetically impaired
I got all kind-a potential...
Why do I sit here in my
indecision
I'd be better off going but it's so much safer to stay
Why do I sit here when I've got the vision
If I could rise from this sofa, you know I'd be on my
way
I'm gonna sell all I got and
buy a ticket to Peru
I'm gonna sit there and watch the greenery grow
And give my two pennies worth of MC squared
Don't you know, don't you know, I got
All kind-a potential, I got all kind-a potential
I got all kind-a potential

Your Own Best Friend
© Copyright 1998 Verlene
Schermer/BMI
All Rights Reserved
Don't be your own enemy, don't
sabotage your chances
No one wants to keep you from success
Be instead your own best friend, encouragement
enhances
Tell yourself to do your very best
And lift your head up, and
feel the sunlight
A friend would only want you to succeed
And lift your hands up, and feel the fear subside
Cause love is all we ever really need
A loving friend would want you to succeed
Don't tell yourself. "you're
not good enough, why bother even trying?"
Cause who are you to tell yourself such lies?
A friend would tell you to be well prepared for what
is lying
Up ahead and out beyond the skies
So lift your head up, and feel
the sunlight
A friend would only want you to succeed
And lift your hands up, and feel the fear subside
Cause love is all we ever really need
A loving friend would want you to succeed
Don't make excuses, there's
nothing to excuse
Don't listen to those who say you're bound to lose
And who's telling you that?
Just lift your head up, and
feel the sunlight
A friend would only want you to succeed
And lift your hands up, and feel the fear subside
Cause love is all we ever really need
A loving friend would want you to succeed
So, don't be your own enemy...

Make the Silence Answer
© Copyright 1998 Verlene
Schermer/BMI
All Rights Reserved
Listen to the silence, dare
the question, beg the answer,
Listen to the silence, bear the quest, make the
silence answer!
Find it out, know the knowing,
No one can know it for you!
Find it out, feel the feeling,
No one can feel it for you!
Listen to the silence, dare
the question, beg the answer,
Listen to the silence, bear the quest, make the
silence answer!
Dream the dream, see the
vision,
No one can see it for you!
Intensity, Intuition,
None can intuit for you!
Listen to the silence, dare
the question, beg the answer,
Listen to the silence, bear the quest, make the
silence answer!
Beginning to end, it's a
brimming adventure!
Listen to the silence, dare
the question, beg the answer,
Listen to the silence, bear the quest, make the
silence answer!
Bring it out from the
darkness,
Though formless it lies here before you!
Drive it out from the shadows,
Ideas are born through great pain!
Listen to the silence, dare
the question, beg the answer,
Listen to the silence, bear the quest, make the
silence answer!
Bear the quest, make the silence answer!
Dare the question, beg the answer,
Listen to the silence, bear the quest, make the
silence answer!
Dare the question, beg the answer,
Listen to the silence!

Two-D Imagery

Two-D Imagery, stretch my mind
Let my imagination look behind
Two-D Imagery, do be kind
Leave something hidden there for me to find
Only height and width, and yet
I see depth
Ah, perspective, what a priceless thing!
Keeps me pondering, always wondering
What does the artist say to me?
Two-D Imagery, stretch my mind
Let my imagination look behind
Two-D Imagery, do be kind
Leave something hidden there for me to find
I could sit and stare at all
the colors there
Still not knowing what I see
Every moment here is time well spent
What does the artist say to me?
Two-D Imagery, stretch my mind
Let my imagination look behind
Two-D Imagery, do be kind
Leave something hidden there...

Metamorphosis

Metaphysic, metaphoric, met a
man with a mission
Metaphysic, metaphoric, metamorphosis
Metaphysic, metaphoric, met a woman with a vision
Metaphysic, metaphoric, metamorphosis
Paradigm shifting, kite and a
metal key
Paradox lifting, electricity
Paradigm shifting, time is a mystery
Paradox lifting, relativity
Metaphysic, metaphoric, met a
man with a mission
Metaphysic, metaphoric, metamorphosis
Metaphysic, metaphoric, met a woman with a vision
Metaphysic, metaphoric, metamorphosis
Paradigm shifting,
non-linearity
Paradox lifting, multiplicity
Paradigm shifting, go where you dare to be
Paradox lifting, possibility!
A butterfly in Peking...
A storm in New York City...
So much can change with such a strange attraction, on
the fractal plane
Metaphysic, metaphoric, met a
man with a mission
Metaphysic, metaphoric, metamorphosis
Metaphysic, metaphoric, met a woman with a vision
Metaphysic, metaphoric, metamorphosis
Metaphysic, metaphoric
'physic, 'phoric, metamorphosis

Breakthrough

Dawn's light
throbbing, aching,
breaks through in a burst of pain
Final contraction
push, shove,
screams
I don't want it, take it back
Relax, done,
rest now,
soon enough we'll see
the fruit of your toil.
You have created
new life
for yourself
Begin. Be new.
Be you. Beautiful.

El Niño
© Copyright 1998 Verlene
Schermer/BMI
All Rights Reserved
He's a middle child, looking
for attention
He's a little wild, waving Armageddon
Like a banner, like a sign, like the writing on a
Mayan wall
He spins out of control to get a reaction
Can we change the world if we
take care of her children
Can we change the world if we take care of her
children
Can we change the world if we take care of her
children
We can change the world if we can change
He's a middle child, temper
always flaring
He's a little wild, threatening and daring
Like an omen, like a test, like an unexpected
thunderstorm
His outbursts serve to warn of what he is bearing
Can we change the world if we
take care of her children
Can we change the world if we take care of her
children
Can we change the world if we take care of her
children
We can change the world if we can change
El Nino, Mother Nature's
second son
What can be done to ease your pain?
He's a little wild, maybe
he'll outgrow it
He's a middle child, he sure loves to show it
Like a demon, like a beast, like the one least likely
to succeed
His mother's heart will bleed if he can't control it
Can we change the world if we
take care of her children
Can we change the world if we take care of her
children
Can we change the world if we take care of her
children
We can change the world if we can change
We can change the world if we can change
We can change the world if we can change

Watch Your Blues Fade Away
© Copyright 1998 Verlene
Schermer/BMI

Music is a sure cure for
sadness
Music lifts you up above your day
Try lis'ning to some bright tune
And watch your blues fade away
Music gets inside and delights
you
You breathe out a warm, "won't you stay
Now that you've come, such freedom!"
So watch your blues fade away
Music lovingly reassures you
Yours are not the only clouds that are gray
And soon there'll be sun shining
So watch your blues fade away
La musica cura toda la
tristeza
La musica levanta la ansiedad
Escucha esta melodia alegre
Mira desvanecer la infelicidad
Music is a sure cure for
sadness
Music lifts you up above your day
