Verlene Schermer presents a diverse, upbeat style of music that leans toward contemporary jazz and blues. She accompanies her dynamic, versatile voice on acoustic and electric folk harp, both as a solo performer and in her four piece band. Her original songs inspire international audiences with her poignant observations of modern living, and strengthen the capacity of each person to creatively envision a better reality. Verlene is a sought after harpist and singer who gives concerts throughout the US and in Europe.

Jeff Buenz has worked with Stanley Turrentine, Airto Moreira, Toninho Horta, Smith Dobson, Patrick Simmons of The Doobie Brothers to name a few. He is also a member of the Bay Area band, Viva Brazil. His electric guitar wizardry can be heard on Verlene’s Peace CD.

Preston Carter has performed and recorded with numerous San Francisco Bay Area bands including Electric Angel, Lumina, The Carol McComb Band, and Sharp 9.
He provides the bottom end on Verlene’s Dreamtime, Persphone’s Art and Peace CD’s.

Don Frank has performed and recorded with San Francisco and Los Angeles based bands including The Doobie Brothers, Ronnie Montrose, and Marc Bonilla. His drumming and percussion playing spices up Verlene’s Rendezvous with the Moon, Persephone’s Art and Peace CD’s.

Here's what they're saying about The Verlene Schermer Band:

If you like jazz, if you like a smooth female vocalist enjoying herself with a groovin’ crew, if you can’t keep your feet still when a beat grabs you… The Verlene Schemer Band includes a great team on bass and drums, and the harp dances with the guitar… Mark Feil, Folk Harp Journal

Verlene’s harp playing is...HOLY! that woman's expression is an extreme version of happiness... I loved her driving rhythms...I've never heard such a "pushy" harp. I loved it. Cynthia, fan

I enjoyed your playing and singing and your thoughts behind your songs. Note from a concert goer

You were absolutely enchanting all in black striding on stage with an electric harp at your hip. Inspiring! Aprille, fan

More of what they are saying about The Verlene Schermer Band:

Today’s performance with Verlene, Jeff, Preston, and Don was fantastic! …upbeat energy, and a nice combination of vocal and instrumental pieces.  Really great! From the comments book at the Bing Concert Series at StanfordHospital

Your songs express exactly what I, and countless others experienced. I am playing the Peace CD again for the umpteenth time and find new beauty each time. …whole group is outstanding! Ian Myers, jazz trumpeter

More of what they are saying about Verlene Schermer:

Verlene could be described as a "vocational" musician - her calling is so clear and bright. …really beautiful stuff.  Personal, affirmative, brave, witty, and optimistic.  John Lozier, Harping for Harmony

I am very impressed by your music! I find there is a new generation of pop harpists that grow in US and which is very impressing as we don't have such artists here in Europe. Jakez Francois, Camac Harps in France

…warm voice, resonant timbre and irresistible charm…
Elisabeth Hoffmann, Freisinger SZ
